Marine mammal app allows users to capture an image of a mammal, determine if it is dead or alive, identify its species and report the sightings. The user is identified by the username, phone number or email used when the app is first launched. The users have the options to select camera to capture marine mammal sightings or to select pre-recorded marine mammal image from photo album. With the marine mammal image sighting, users are required to answer a series of questions pertaining to fin, beak and colour to determine the species of the mammal and subsequently report the sightings of marine mammal. The user is also given an option to add additional comments and report the sightings of marine mammal. Along with the reported location and date, the data is reported and sent to the remote server to trigger necessary response actions. Marine mammals related authorities and agencies may trigger response action towards the stranded or dead marine mammals according to the reported location, while researchers perform analysis based on the reported sightings to improve marine mammals conservation and protection.
